Finca El Refugio

is a mission house and supplemental farming project that we would like to begin. During our 10 years in El Salvador all housing funds have been spent on rentals. We feel this money could be better spent in a purchase. In addition this property purchase will enable our mission to become more self sufficient and our ministry efforts in areas such as our feeding program would be able to expand. At some point we would like to use this property for training as well as using it to house our short term mission teams that visit each year. The challenge is coming up with money to purchase. The property that we have found after extensive searching is located in Santo Tomas near San Marcos, it is approximately 10 acres in size, with a three bedroom cinderblock main house, a small one room 18 x 18 cinderblock cottage, an 8 x 20 ft. bunk room, an oversized carport with storage, a cinderblock outbuilding once used for brick fire oven, two well/pump houses, a cistern, a large metal water tank and a chicken coop. Everything is in need of repair since it has been abandoned for 7 years.
The property contains over 350 fruit baring trees including orange, lemon, mandarin, mangoes, papaya, cocoa (chocolate), banana and more.
The asking price for the property is $80,000 negotiable. The farming cost for starting up would be about $6,000 the first year because we do need to get the wells and watering system back in operation. The repair costs to make the housing livable would be at least $35,000. If you are interested in this project please feel free to contact us with your questions.
Thank you to all who pray and give.
